Adding a Hold Event to your listings ensures your property cannot be booked for a specified time. This is a necessity for preventing double bookings when working with any booking channels that aren't synchronized with your Sympl calendar, as well as keeping your property clear for scheduled maintenance and personal usage.
How to Add a Hold Event in Sympl
There are two ways to add a hold event to your listings:
Via the Calendar pages:
Navigate to either your Booking Calendar, Standard Calendar or Yearly Calendar pages
Locate the "Add Booking" button in the top right of the screen and click on "Add Hold Event"

Via the Hold Events page:
Locate the Calendar menu item at the top of your Sympl dashboard
Select the Hold Events option then "Add Hold Event"

Once opened, the Hold Event configuration screen will display fields for scheduling your hold period. Only some of these are required fields (denoted with an asterisk):

On the Details tab, you will see the following fields:
Title – Displayed in your calendar views for easy identification.Status – Displayed in your calendar views and used for filtering. Multiple status types are available to help you stay organized and keep your team informed: Personal, Maintenance, Pending, Confirmed, and Other.
From / Until – Defines the start and end dates of the hold. Dates that are already booked cannot be selected.
Select Rentals – Allows you to choose multiple rental listings to block the same dates. If different dates are needed for multiple rentals, separate hold events must be created.
Expiration – Used with the Roll Forward option, this optional setting determines when the hold event will end and be removed from your calendar. Normally, the Until date serves this purpose; however, when Roll Forward is enabled, expiration is controlled by this setting.
Roll Forward – When enabled, this option automatically advances your hold period by 24 hours, every 24 hours. To limit the duration, set an Expiration date.
The Recurring tab allows you to set the hold event to be automatically created based on the options you select, e.g. Once monthly.
You can also choose when the recurring hold event should end.
Finish setting your hold event by clicking the "Create Hold" button. Your hold event will show up in the Hold Events list as well as on your calendars.

You have now successfully created a hold event!
